Numerical Investigation on Hydrodynamic Performance of a Portable AUV

This paper conducts a numerical investigation on the hydrodynamic performance of portable autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV). The AUV is designed to cruise and perform some tasks autonomously in world. However, its dynamic strongly affected by effects. Therefore, it crucial investigate for accurate modeling control. In this work, based AUV, comprehensive was conducted adopting computational fluid dynamics (CFD) method. Firstly, mechanical structure briefly introduced, model including term, established. Then, unknown coefficients were estimated through towing experiment plane-motion-mechanism (PMM) simulation. addition, considering that wave forces when cruising near water surface, influence surface waves under different conditions submerged depths analyzed. Finally, effectiveness our method verified experiments standard models, physical platform built work facilitate investigations small-size AUVs.
